Note: No treatment is always an option, just not a recommendation for cases of this complexity.
Note: The fees associated are approximate, not absolute. Actual costs will be done after specific plan is chosen. These are estimates to guide patient into best option for them and financial ability. Again, these are estimates. Once a tentative option is chosen, more exact costs will be given, as specific numbers take a considerable amount of administrative effort.
*These fees do not take into account insurance benefits. You can expect that your yearly benefit will be maximized for a case of this size. 5% bookkeeping benefit is given for any case paid in full prior to start.
Below, it’d be great if the strategies created were based off of conditions in the “Dental Conditions Problem List”. From there, the pros and cons get generated. The estimates are generated off of fee schedule of various procedures that adds as we go along.
Each strategy will have it’s own “layman’s” term with basic description beneath it.
| Strategy | Pros | Cons | Estimate |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 – Preventive Care and Oral Hygiene Education | Low cost, Helps manage caries risk, Improves overall dental health | Does not directly address crowded teeth or abfractions, Requires consistent effort and discipline | $100-500 |
| 2 – Orthodontic Treatment | Addresses crowded teeth, Improves aesthetics and bite function | Higher cost, Requires time and commitment, Possible discomfort or adjustment issues | $3,000-10,000 |
| 3 – Restorative Dentistry (fillings, crowns) | Can address abfractions and biomechanical risks, May improve aesthetics | Some procedures can be costly, Invasive compared to preventive care | $500-5,000 |
| 4 – Sedation Dentistry | Helps manage dental anxiety, Allows for multiple treatments in one visit | Additional costs, Requires transportation arrangements, Possible side effects | $200-800 per visit |
| 5 – Payment Plan/Financing Options | Makes cost of treatment more manageable, Allows for access to necessary treatments | Interest rates may apply, Requires good credit score | Varies based on cost of treatment and terms of payment plan |

Phased Treatment Plan
*This is the recommended and optimal option, one that I’d recommend for my sibling, parent, or close friend. To help alleviate the daunting nature of such a plan, I have broken up the treatment into phases. Although phasing is not required, it helps to spread out the financial and time considerations. In addition, in many cases, treatment can be spread out over multiple yea rs to take advantage of multiple years of insurance coverage. The column indicated by “Time between phases” will have a time range. The first number is the minimum time needed for healing. The maximum is the maximum amount of time that can pass before compromise/issues can arise. It is also important to note that phasing any of the plans often ends up in an overall cost greater than if done all at once.
The phased plan would be laid out from the “ideal” option on the previous page. The actual plan in detail would be in response to the specific criteria/conditions that exist in response the problem/condition list.
Phase I
- Implement preventive care measures and improve oral hygiene habits
- Educate about caries risk and how to manage it
- Explore sedation dentistry options to manage dental anxiety
Phase II
- Begin orthodontic treatment to address crowded teeth
- Undergo necessary restorative procedures to address abfractions and biomechanical risks
Phase III
- Continue orthodontic treatment and restorative care as necessary
- Maintain good oral hygiene habits and preventive care
- Manage dental anxiety with sedation dentistry as needed
- Establish a payment plan or financing option to manage costs of treatment
